Have you missed me?!
I’ve had a couple of weeks away from my desk so no blog posts, but on the flip side – that means I’ve been out there enjoying life!
I’m actually typing this blog post on my BRAND NEW LAPTOP which we picked up in the Boxing Day sales – joint business expense / birthday present. Yes, I had a birthday last week – amazing to think my Dad was retired at my age. I have no intention of retiring any time soon, I’m having way too much fun running my own business!
But all the birthday goss will have to wait for another time as this post is about what I got up to in December, 2021 …
1 December – It might be the first day of summer, but it was so rainy and cool I ended up pulling on a cardigan!
2 December – We finally bit the bullet and got a split system installed in the media room. Yay to watching Netflix in air conditioned comfort!
3 December – We celebrated the end of the week with a picnic on the waterfront! Afterwards we made the most of our cool new media room, by watching a Christmas movie – “Office Christmas Party”, and laughed ourselves silly.
4 December – Being a Saturday, I did some housework before enjoying a massage and nap. Later in the afternoon I mowed the lawn before a storm rolled in.
5 December – Another beautiful summer’s day, our street looks so lush and green (and nicely mowed, if I do say so myself LOL).
6 December – Monday night at the movies (at home LOL) – another Christmas movie, “Last Christmas” which was a bit of tear jerker.
7 December – Ugh, very overcast, steamy and sweaty on my morning walk.
8 December – Another storm today; I love watching storms! And in the evening we watched another great Christmas movie, “Love Hard”.
9 December – A bit of Christmas shopping after work. Thursday night shopping used to be a real “thing” in years gone by, but now there’s Sunday trading it’s a bit of a non event, even with Christmas only a couple of weeks’ away. Ah well, no crowds means the perfect opportunity to take a silly selfie!
10 December – Went to my second ever mat pilates class in the morning. Afterwards I met up with a client (also the studio owner) – it’s the first time I’ve ever done a business meeting in exercise gear LOL!
11 December – I started a new jigsaw puzzle. Oh, and it was the 34th anniversary of our very first date, we kept it low key – though the husbear presented me with a hibiscus from the garden 😉 .
12 December – Gave myself a manicure, did some washing, wrote a blog post, while the husbear visited his mum as she is poorly.
13 December – In the evening we watched “The Christmas Inheritance”, a bit lame but still enjoyable.
14 December – We finally had our front porch tiled. Only took us three years! Clearly Seth (cat) and Bevy (gnome) approve 😉 .
15 December – The husbear is on a roll with house renos – after work he made a start on replacing the rotten boards and railings on our deck!
16 December – I might have come up with my “one little word” for 2022 in this morning’s business coaching session: triumphant. But I’ll probably write a post and tell you the story behind it, at a later date!
17 December – Decorated gingerbread houses with Miss 25 and her mother-in-law – a new Christmas tradition which we started last year 🙂 . My work is very slapdash, and my snowman looks like a demented robot, but hey, it was fun!
18 December – We helped Mr 27 by setting the scene ready for him to propose to his lovely girlfriend (which you can read about here, in case you missed it).
19 December – A joyous Sunday! We headed back to the park with Mr 27 and his brand new fiance to get a few pics (including a few of the husbear and I!). And, Miss 25 and her husband came over to admire the ring and celebrate the engagement!
20 December – Snapped this sneaky pic of Fleur rolling around on a mat 😉 .
21 December – My mother-in-law is very unwell so we took the day off to visit her in hospital.
22 December – Last grocery shop before Christmas (I hope)!
23 December – One last late night shopping trip to get a couple of last minute gifts.
24 December – All week I was frantically trying to get all my work up to date before Christmas so I can have a couple of weeks’ off. I’d hoped to finish work at midday, but it was more like 3pm by the time I clocked off. Still, not too bad! Time to wrap some pressies!
25 December – How funny, the husbear and I had unknowingly chosen the same present for each other – a lilo for our upcoming beach holiday! The kids came over for dinner, and I was very proud of pulling off a feast fit for our (almost) daughter-in-law. She’s allergic to eggs and nuts so it was a bit of a challenge!
27 December – Went shopping with Miss 25 at Carindale to check out all the Boxing Day bargains. I actually didn’t buy much at all, the fashion at the moment just doesn’t really inspire me …
28 December – We’re all going on a summer holiday … yes, even Fleur! She quickly made herself at home, as you can see. Unfortunately the weather forecast is for rain and wind for the next week or so …
29 December – It was sunny (though windy), so the husbear and I took our lilos in the water to try them out – but the wind kept pushing us into shore! I wanted to get a photo but husbear said we’d have plenty of other opportunities … (Yeah, that didn’t happen, the weather was atrocious!).
30 December – My Dad and stepmum came over for the day, we had a lovely meal in the (one and only!) cafe on Coochiemudlo Island, followed by a walk on the beach.
31 December – There weren’t any official New Year’s Eve celebrations on Coochiemudlo so we created our own, taking a heap of sparklers down the beach to light at midnight.
And so 2021 has drawn to a close, although the start of 2022 is not looking as bright as we’d all hoped.
As you may have noticed in the pics, we still need to mask up due to the pandemic with the extra contagious Omicron wave hitting our shores.
I think we’re all heartily sick of Covid after nearly two years, every time it feels like there’s a light at the tunnel it manages to confound us all. It’s one determined b@st@rd of a virus, but we’re not going to let it get us down!!!!!

Love the escalator selfie! 😉
