And just like that, August has gone by in a blur … now the calendar has turned over to September, it really feels like a downhill slide to Christmas (and Mr 28’s wedding)!
August – Monday, and my first full day back at work after a week off sick with “not Covid”.
August – Fleur looked so ladylike (not) … she told me that she was showing you her toe beans because it was Toe Bean Tuesday! In other news, I went out for a lovely lunch with my business coach (but forgot to take a pic, bad blogger!).
August – Hosted an online meeting today with some of the members of my DIY SEO group. In other news, today we learned that somebody we knew had passed away from Covid; it’s the first person that we’ve actually known 🙁 .
August – Fabulous morning at my business mastermind group, such a great group of inspirational business owners! This is what I wore:
August – The husbear and I are taking next week off to stay in our little beach shack for a whole week. Alas, before that happens we both have a lot of work to get done, so we both worked late.
August – Needless to say I was very tired! At one stage I was telling the husbear that I had to “cross my eyes and dot my T’s” … yep, so tired I got my words all muddled up, we had a good giggle over that one!
August – Packed up and headed over to our cottage on Coochiemudlo Island for our first whole week there together, hooray!
August – I went for a lovely walk along Morwong Beach. It might be winter, but I still love the sights and sounds of the beach, and breathing in that fresh sea air!
August – The husbear and I took our bikes for a spin. We took this pic at sunset, looking back towards the mainland. After dinner, we relaxed in front of the brazier.
August – It might be a holiday but the husbear is still a busy little bee … he cleaned out all the gutters, and scrubbed the skylight. Meanwhile, I did some serious jigsaw puzzling! We went for a beach walk after lunch.
August – Such a lovely day, we had a BBQ for lunch and had some feathered friends – three kookaburras – come to visit. Afterwards we rode our bikes down to one of the beaches and explored all the areas exposed by low tide. The husbear went fishing after dinner …
August – The next morning he showed me his catch – two big bream! Shame I don’t like seafood LOL. In the evening we watched a movie on Netflix, “Till Death”, what a waste of two hours …
August – It rained all day but we didn’t let that stop us – we wandered down to the local and enjoyed a cheese board. Oh, and I finished my puzzle, just in time – back home tomorrow.
August – Back home and what do you normally do after a week away? Lots of washing of course! The kitties were very happy to have us home, and even more excited to have some of the fish the husbear had caught. Totally spoiled!
August – It was a lovely holiday but now we are both back at work and absolutely swamped. What holiday?!!! Seth was very snuggly when we watched telly in the evening 🙂 .
August – We went for a grocery shop after work because our cupboards were completely bare after being away.
August – I had a chiropractor appointment (for my sore neck and shoulders – too much computer work) and it was great timing because it was quite sore after only a couple of days back at work. Only problem was I’d forgotten that we’d lent our second car to Miss 25 and her husband while theirs is in being fixed, and I didn’t realise until I was heading out. I was determined not to miss my appointment, so managed to book a slightly later appointment, and got an Uber. Now that’s commitment! I timed it well though and was able to get straight on a bus to get home.
August – My business coach is away, so I lead our fortnightly business mastermind session in her absence. It went okay but I’ll be glad when she’s back!
August – I first noticed a small lump on my back that looked a bit inflamed when we were on our holiday. However it’s gotten worse and today I realised it was a boil; it was so painful I couldn’t wear a bra (luckily I wasn’t going anywhere) – but even worse, I’ve had to cancel my massage for tomorrow, boo hoo!!!!
August – Went to see the doctor about the boil (even though it was Saturday), got a haircut, bought a couple of tops, and a gift for my almost-daughter-in-law’s bridal shower …
August – I popped into Miss 25’s for a cuppa and she kindly put some ointment on my back, as I can’t reach it!
August – I bribed Miss 25 and her husband into coming over for dinner by making their favourite: lasagne! Afterwards Miss 25 helped treat my boil, as the husbear point blank refuses – he’s squeamish about pimple popping or anything like that, so I knew he’d be no help!
August – Started taking antibiotics to help the skin infection heal; and I did my nails. I got some $2 nail polish, a strengthener and top coat from Kmart recently and I have to say I am very impressed, first of all, by how long the polish lasts, and secondly, how it’s strengthened my nails so they are actually getting a bit longer! See for yourself:
August – Brrrr will winter never be over, it was soooo cold! I had a treat in the afternoon, something I’d long wanted to try – IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) skin rejuvenation. One of the quirks of copywriting is that I usually talk myself into treatments/services, and that’s what had happened 😉 . Both the husbear and daughter said it really evened out my skin tone – made it look like I was wearing makeup, when I actually wasn’t (except for lippy, anyway).

And pics from the beautician, a close up of my chin:
August – Finally finished the big 1500 piece puzzle the kids gave me for Mother’s Day. I started it on 10 July, so it took me just over 7 weeks all up!
August – Oh dear, Seth is in the bad books. He clawed and pulled some threads in the husbear’s favourite jumper … I don’t think it’s that bad, but husbear was really cross and insists he won’t wear it again.
August – Miss 25 and I went shopping for a Mother of the Groom dress, with Mr 28’s wedding just over 3 months’ away the countdown is on! Unfortunately I didn’t really see anything I liked so will have to keep looking … the dress code is “formal”, and Mr 28 wants me to wear a long dress. Let’s hope I can find something suitable and soon! We stopped for a coffee and a brownie along the way 😉
August – A lovely Sunday morning sleep in, and then I got stuck into cleaning the house.
August – There is a large property behind us, with three sheep that help to keep the grass in check. This morning when I got up one of them had given birth to a little black lamb! Sooo cute. Later in the day I noticed – another lamb, this one white! I love watching the little lambies as they frolic and play.
August – Another lovely lambie! This one is white with a black face. In the evening the husbear and I watched Persuasion on Netflix. There were lots of historical inaccuracies but it was a fun bit of escapism.
August – My business coach has talked me into entering the Women in Digital Awards, so I was up til midnight working on my entry – wish me luck!
Clearly, our August highlight was our week of holidays; even though it was hard to take the time away from our jobs, the husbear and I have determined that it’s something we need to do more often. So, I’ve suggested we try to get away again in early November as it would be nice to have a break BEFORE the madness of the Christmas season, instead of having to wait for it to be over …
How often do you take holidays?
