Welcome back! In my last edition of A Sentence A Day I mentioned a l’il cyclone that was heading towards Bris-Vegas (first one in 50 years to cross the coast here!).
But as we headed into March it was still a distant threat …
March – We had a lovely afternoon tea out on our deck with our son, his wife, and her family.
March – A rare snap of our kitties actually playing together!
March –
March – I love this photo of the husbear playing with our kitties. We have very similar ones taken the first year we were married, playing with our first babies, Chloe and Natasha … nearly 35 years ago now!
March – Had a session with my psychologist today, this is Socks, the therapy dog – isn’t he gorgeous?! The husbear picked up Chinese takeaway for dinner, our favourite local closed some time ago so we are actively looking for a replacement. This one was pretty good!
March – Oh yeah, Cyclone Alfred is still hanging around, and was predicted to make landfall sometime today. Schools, shops and businesses were closed; we spent the day cyclone proofing our house and yard. But … Alfred must have met a mate at the pub and stopped for a drink as he’s taking his own sweet time!
March – It’s miserable rainy weather but still nothing like a cyclone. We finished watching Enterprise on Netflix, we’ve been binge-watching it since Christmas.
March – Okay now it’s feeling more cyclonic! There was a strong southerly wind last night and rain of course, but nothing we haven’t experienced before. Alfred crossed the Coast on the northside of Brisbane. Our internet and phone service went down …
March – Last night was windy AF, an easterly gale that was worse than on Friday night. We were both starting to suffer from cabin fever, with no internet we watched DVDs. Luckily we still have power and water which many in Brisbane don’t …
March – The husbear went to check how our island home had fared in the cyclone (the ferries were suspended for several days so this was the first chance he could get over there). Our clothesline was destroyed by a large tree branch, and all the food in the freezer was off (no power on the island for several days) so he had to clean that out, but otherwise we were very fortunate – as you can see from the second pic there were trees down all across the island.
March – I held one of my free SEO webinars today and had my first heckler! You know you’ve made it when … LOL. Seriously though the webinar was aimed at beginner level and he was clearly from another agency and kept trying to dominate and undermine me. So rude. I did put him in his place though.
March – My quarterly salon visit – new hair don’t care! Here’s a before and after view.
March –
March – Big night with the annual One Brisbane BNI Awards. I was stoked to be able to wear the dress I bought in 2019 for our daughter’s wedding – it fits again! And, I might have come home with a couple of gongs 😉 .
March – Had a wonderful time at my stepmum’s 70th birthday bash. I gave a speech and we had fun dancing, from disco tunes right through to a Scottish reel (June is Scottish)! Great to see lots of family too.
March – After the party yesterday we headed over to the island for a quick break. We had a cooked brekky – yum – and went for a beach walk – check out how much sand was swept away in the cyclone, there’s no way I could get up to sit on this park bench now! Tonight we had dinner at the Coochie Beach Bar before coming back home to the mainland.
March – St Patrick’s Day! Shame I didn’t remember so I didn’t wear anything green. Seth however got the memo and snuggled up with his green scratching post 😉 .
March –
March – Another great BNI meeting this morning.
March – I’ve been reading and loving “Committed”, by Elizabeth Gilbert. I could never get into her bestseller “Eat Pray Love” (haven’t seen the movie either), so am really surprised how much I’m enjoying this book.
March – The husbear has a suspected spider bite on his wrist which is swollen, sore and full of pus – trust me you wouldn’t want to see it without the bandage. (As I write this a month later it’s still visible, see second photo).
March – Back to the island! There’s just something about Coochiemudlo that makes you relax – here’s proof. The husbear had a rare snooze on the couch and I managed to sneak a pic.
March – Have I mentioned that I love beachcombing? My only disappointment is that there’s no sea glass to be found on the island.
March – We had dinner with the kids, they are flying to Japan this week for a holiday – cherry blossom season, lucky things! Check out the view from the rooftop terrace of their apartment …
March – Raining. Again.
March – Yummy blackberries! I wish they weren’t so expensive, I’d eat them every day if I could!
March – We have started watching an epic new series on Netflix, 10/10 definitely recommend – Ghosts.
March – More rain, but I braved the elements to go the Empowered Women’s Network at the Hamilton Hotel. A highlight was meeting Georgia, one of the members of my online course (the DIY SEO HQ) in real life for the first time!
March – Happy Saturday! It was raining again, we did some grocery shopping and had sushi for lunch. I started the tiger puzzle I got for my birthday or maybe it was Christmas – I can’t remember exactly – it’s hard when they are only 13 days apart!
March – Did the mowing. Fleur has a message for us: FEED. ME. RIGHT. MEOW!!!!
March – I texted the husbear to see how a big meeting at work went, and he said my text is “truly like a warm hug”. Nawwww!
And that’s it for March – see you soon for the April edition of A Sentence A Day, right here at Janetti Spaghetti!
