Welcome my friends to the latest update from the House of Spaghetti!
As I write this, ex Cyclone Alfred is roaring outside, trying his best to huff and puff and blow our house down … but we’re hunkered down, safe and secure (and we still have power and water thankfully, though thousands don’t) …
There’s not much else to do on a wet and windy weekend, so it’s the perfect time to bring you the latest edition of A Sentence A Day: February 2025!
February – Started the day with a trip to the vet to get Miss Fleur’s claws trimmed – she’s in need of a bit of an “attitude adjustment” as she’s been giving Seth a hard time. Afterwards we visited our son and his wife in their lovely new apartment. Check out the view!
February – Received a very upsetting text. In the words of Kamahl: Why are people so unkind?!
February – I took a photo of the odometer on my car, as we are switching insurance companies – we are officially “seniors” as our cover is now with Australian Seniors! As it is saving us nearly $500 a year, I’m okay with that 😉 .
February –
February – After my BNI meeting this morning I went for a walk over the new Kangaroo Point Bridge (connecting to the city) – just because I could!
February – Gave my first free webinar for the year, then headed out for a lunch time meeting.
February – We went out for dinner at to a Hawaiian night at the local bowls club.
February – Spending the weekend at our island house. We went fishing just before sunset, but only caught this little tiddler (which we promptly threw back).
February – Started the day with a refreshing swim and walk along the beach; as you can see the island is quite a popular destination for jetski riders!
February – When your cat does the downward dog 😉 .
February – Gorgeous full moon, though my photos never do it justice.
February – I popped in to the op shop to buy a white coat – I’ve had an idea to make a video to promote our free SEO checkups (Curious? Check out my video here!).
February – A visit to the doctor. I’ve been on my low carb diet (for pre-diabetes) for just over a year now and my blood sugar level has continued to drop 🙂 although my BP is up – we need to adjust my medication.
February – We celebrated Valentine’s Day with some decadent liqueur chocolates.
February – Went to a book launch to celebrate the release of a friend’s memoir, “Inner Wealth”. Reminded me of my own book launch for “Clues to your Calling” back in 2003. Somebody asked if I thought I had another book in me – all I’ll say is never say never!
February – We’ve only lived in this house for about 6 years; this weekend we FINALLY got around to painting the concrete patio so it looks a bit more finished! Seth clearly approves.
February – I love it when one of my kids texts to ask for one of my recipes. Today our son wanted to know how to make corn fritters 🙂 .
February – Once upon a time I was a primary school teacher. Today, I’m still teaching – only now I give webinars to teach business owners how to promote their businesses online!
February – Look who won the golden mic for best 60 second presentation at BNI this morning!
February – My sister and I met up at Brisbane City Hall after work for a concert – Scott Bradlee’s Post Modern Jukebox. It’s a big band that plays modern music, only with a jazz twist.
February – Met up with a local business colleague for a meeting over coffee. Later in the day I saw an ad for Rockaria the ELO Experience at Redland Performing Arts Centre in October – we LOVE their music so I booked tickets straight away!
February – Dammit Janet! We’d never seen The Rocky Horror Picture Show (despite knowing there’s a song about me in it!) … tonight we saw it at the drive in. Gotta be honest I don’t really know what all the fuss was about …
February – Had a wonderful lunch at the Outback Steakhouse at Aspley, with my brother and his fiancé to celebrate their recent engagement. (Hard to believe this used to be acreage and one of my little school friends used to live there when I was a girl!)
February – International Women’s Day is coming up fast – trying to decide which one to go to next week (as it turned out I didn’t go to any … they were all cancelled on account of Cyclone Alfred!)
February – Miss Fleur has a new hiding spot in our walk in wardrobe. She looks a bit guilty, don’t you think?!
February – Woooooooohooo we saw Kylie Minogue in concert, what a fabulous night! Gosh I love her music. You can take the girl out of the disco … but not disco out of the girl 😉 .
February – Of course I had to wear my new Kylie tshirt!
February – First rumours of a cyclone affecting our weather here in Brisbane, with a social media post saying that the ferries to our island home will be suspended next week.
And here we are, over a week later, and Cyclone Alfred has only just crossed the coast! He certainly took his time to get here … and we still have several days of rain to look forward to.
It was a pretty good month overall. My top three highlights would have to be going to see Kylie and Post Modern Jukebox – plus catching up with my brother and his fiance. Okay, make it four – loved spending that weekend over at Coochiemudlo Island too. We were meant to go this weekend but ol’ Alfred put paid to those plans!
Now it’s over to you – I’d love to hear three highlights for you from February!
