Lots of public holidays in April and May, with Easter, Anzac Day and Labour Day … so not surprising really that we started off the month thinking about HOLIDAYS!!!!
April – We loved our 3 day comedy cruise so much last July, that we’ve booked to go on another one later this year. Yay!!!
April – I really look forward to my weekly BNI meeting even if it does mean getting up super early. Check out this pic I took of clouds hovering over the city high rises today.
April –
April – The husbear went for drinks after work for happy hour – looks like they got a bit carried away ordering rounds I think!
April – I pottered around the house while the husbear did some repairs on our motorhome.
April – A lovely day out with my sissy, it’s her birthday this week. We went to the Ancient Egypt exhibition at the Qld Museum, followed by sightseeing at the Queen’s Wharf Sky Deck (she’d never been before), and finally, we found this cute basement bar where we each had a Mai Tai.
April – Looks like Fleur has those Monday morning feels …
April – The husbear did the grocery shopping after work, I was too tired to go with him but did help with putting things away.
April – Met up with a client for a meeting with a twist – she’s a makeup artist and the official Australian distributor for Emani Cosmetics so I was treated to a bit of a makeover! (You can read the tips I learned about makeup for midlife here).
April – Feeling a bit stressed about how much work I need to do and one of my team members is away on holidays (Fiji, half her luck)! I’m presenting a webinar on Tuesday on AI and SEO and ironically was able to use AI to pull it together in half the time it would normally take!
April – My amazing husband has booked something special for our upcoming 35th wedding anniversary! We are going to the Catsgravanza and Oz Feline Fair, and staying in an apartment in the new Queen’s Wharf hotel … he’s even talking about getting tshirts printed with pictures of our cats that we can wear to the Expo! I was soooo touched.
April – We came over to Coochie last night, and had fun feeding the kookaburras this morning. Is it just me or do they look like they’re about to take 10 paces and turn around for a duel?!
April – The husbear and his mate dismantled the old garden shed at Coochie, we are getting the large tree next to it cut down in a couple of weeks and it was blocking access.
April –
April – Fleur “helped” with putting the groceries away.
April – More mischief from Fleur – she’s found a new hiding place in the curtains. Just so long as she doesn’t claw them … uh oh too late.
April – I have a lot of little red spots all over my body, they’re called cherry angiomas. One on my wrist popped today when I had my shower, I only noticed it when drying myself off and seeing blood on my towel. I wonder if it will go away now?
April – Good Friday. We had the husbear’s best mate over for lunch as it’s his birthday this weekend and they tucked into a big bowl of prawns (ugh) while I had some leftovers. Afterwards we headed over to Coochie for a couple of nights.
April – Took in the Coochie Easter markets, went for a beach walk, and generally took it easy 🙂 .
April – Easter Sunday! You’ll be proud of me this is my FIRST. EASTER. EVER – without Easter eggs or hot cross buns!!! And you know what, I didn’t even miss them. This high protein low carb diet my doctor prescribed has really become a lifestyle!
April – In the evening we visited our son and his wife, to see some of their holiday photos as they have just arrived home from Japan.
April – Dinner date at Sushi Train with my Bear after work!
April – Tickled pink that I won the lucky door prize at BNI today as it was a gift pack of three business books. Yay!!!
April – Made a last minute decision to attend the Common Grounds Women in Business network at the Powerhouse at New Farm this morning. For some reason though I thought it was at the Gasworks at Newstead so parked there, thinking I could walk to the cafe. Google Maps said it was only 5 minutes away – but what I didn’t realise, is that it thought that I was driving. So I walked about 20 minutes (in the pouring rain I might add!) before realising my mistake and getting an Uber, so I was a bit late. I’m really glad I persevered though, it was a great morning and I’ll definitely go again.
April – Anzac Day. We waited on the back deck for the fly past which was scheduled to fly from west to east, almost over the top of us – but instead it seemed to come from south to north and was a very long way away. Most disappointing.

April – We’ve had a lot of rain lately and I had cabin fever, so I headed to the waterfront (it was an extremely low tide) and went hunting for sea glass, brought home these beauties! Not as good as Darwin or Cairns but at least it was something 🙂 .
April – A bit of sewing on a Sunday afternoon – mostly taking in skirts and blouses that are now too loose on me, and I like them too much to stop wearing them 😉 . I bought my trusty Singer sewing machine just before we got engaged, which is 36 years ago now!
April – I took my morning cuppa outside to join Sethie Boy as he snoozed in the sun. (By the way, the husbear insists it should be Seth-Y not Seth-IE … I’m not so sure about that!).
April – Bathroom selfie after BNI! My outfit is actually from the op shop – a Laura Ashley skirt, and Dotti top – not bought at the same time, but I think they go well together!
April – Remember how I said that we had to demolish the shed to make room for the tree loppers at our island property? Well after all that work the tree guy turned up and refused to do the job, as this bloodwood gum is “too healthy”. I love trees too, but this one has big branches hanging over our place as well as the neighbour’s which make us nervous, plus the trunk was pressing right up against the shed (which is now gone). It’s annoying because we’ve had this booked for months, and wouldn’t have removed the shed. Grrrrrrrrr.
But how can we stay cranky, when we have two great weekend getaways coming up in May! To find out more you’ll just have to wait for the next edition of A Sentence A Day!
