What is April like your neck of the woods?
Here in Bris-Vegas it might be Autumn (fall) but it still feels like Summer, with a few cooler nights thrown into the mix.
There’s a heap of public holidays – for Easter (Good Friday and Easter Monday), Anzac Day on the 25th, and then the first Monday of May is Labour Day. Add some school holidays into the mix and you can see why it’s considered camping season (but not for this little black duck, LOL)!
However we did manage a couple of quick getaways, as you will see …
April – The husbear and I represented his parents at a family reunion. His paternal grandmother was one of 10 children (I think) … this group was a meeting of all their children, the cousins.
April – Sundays are for sleeping in!
April – It might have been Monday but we still took time to have a BBQ dinner on the deck. The husbear made sizzling steak!
April – First day for my new team member, Shaheeda!
April – We had cupcakes at our BNI meeting this morning – apparently it was our chapter’s 19th birthday, though I don’t think any of the current members were there when it started!
April –
April – Good Friday, so we headed over to our weekender on Coochiemudlo Island for the weekend and the husbear made hamburgers for dinner 🙂 .
April – A friend and her mum came to the island and spent the day with us, exploring, swimming, chatting, and eating 🙂 .
April – One of the husbear’s workmates actually lives on the island, today we caught up with her for lunch. And – the Easter Bunny found us!
April – Back home again in the afternoon, and we had all the kidults over for a fun family dinner.
April –
April – I took a selfie at my desk just for your enjoyment! (Well ok I sent it to Miss 26 too 😉 )
April – We were treated to a guest speaker – Hannah from Jayne Media – at my business coaching / mastermind group today, giving us some top tips on making the most of social media for our businesses.
April – After work we packed up the car ready for a quick trip to Rockhampton to visit his auntie (one of the cousins, but unable to travel to the reunion earlier this month) …
April – The husbear bundled me into the car at 4am and we started the 7 hour drive. I slept most of the way, though we stopped at Apple Tree Creek (near Childers) for a picnic breakfast, and arrived in Rocky in time for lunch. Auntie spoiled us with a wonderful home cooked meal, and we went for a walk through the nearby Botanical Gardens, returning home just after sunset.
April – 7am mass with Auntie, then we visited the Rockhampton Zoo, had lunch and then back in the car. We got home at about 10pm and had two kitties that were VERY happy to see us!
April – Back to work (at home) … Fleur was very proud, she miaowed up a storm because she wanted me to know that SHE GOT HIM! (I’m not sure exactly what she got – some sort of bug, as you can see in the pic below?!)
April – I came downstairs to make a cuppa for morning tea and found that the husbear had put the slow cooker on with dinner already on the go – he’s a keeper!
April – While most of my business meetings are done via Zoom, today I headed to a prospect’s office as it is literally just up the road. (An aside – yes, she is now my newest client!).
April – It’s a new moon, so the husbear went fishing after work – came home with two bream which made Seth very happy!
April – We were very worried to learn that my Dad was in hospital. He had a bit of a fall a week ago which resulted in fractured vertebrae; as he was getting worse, not better, he was admitted to hospital.
April – The husbear and I had tickets to Babba, an Abba tribute band. It was absolutely amazing!
April – We visited Dad in hospital. He was a lot better than we expected; it’s likely the painkillers were causing problems. We wanted to give him some flowers and thought we’d pick some up at the hospital … except the florist stall was closed. Seems crazy to me, Brisbane’s largest hospital and you can’t buy flowers on the weekend!
April – We’d both taken today off – to give us an extra long weekend as tomorrow is Anzac Day. However after a lovely sleep in I did end up doing some work in the afternoon 😉 .
April – Anzac Cove is in Turkey – so to commemorate Anzac Day we made kebabs for something a bit different!
April – Fleur loved that we got a box delivered today. She didn’t care what was in it – except for the paper!
April – My fortnightly business coaching group, and today we had a photographer giving us some awesome tips on taking pictures with our phones. I learned so many new things, seriously there are so many things about my phone that I don’t know!
April – Another busy day at work but I made time to have my annual flu shot, as tomorrow is Saturday so I can rest if it leaves me feeling a bit under the weather.
April – The husbear and I did a bit of shopping – I picked up two pairs of ankle boots ready for winter, a top and a cardigan. We then stopped in at a Bookfest being held by a local Rotary Club and I came home with a bag of novels 🙂 . And yes, I did have a bit of a fever and felt unwell in the evening so it was an early night for me.
April – A quiet Sunday at home. I got out the ultrasonic cleaner and my polishing cloth and cleaned up some of my jewellery – check out the before and after pics! In the evening we watched (and loved) Enola Holmes 2 on Netflix.
And now, it’s over to you … tell me one highlight from your April!

I love reading your ‘Sentence a Day’ blogs. One of the highlights of my April was completing the Thames Path national trail.
