Hello, and welcome to a BUMPER edition of A Sentence A Day – where you get two for the price of one!
Last month was a bit of a blur thanks to Covid, work deadlines, Christmas and summer holidays so I never got a chance to do my usual Sentence A Day post.
So, I’ve decided to combine November and December into the one post.
December is a bit light on to be honest as I was too sick to keep track of things, so I do apologise in advance if there are a few entries missing!
1 November – I painted my nails, I’m loving my $2 quick dry nail polish from Kmart!
2 November – The husbear worked from home.
3 November – I knew this day was coming but it didn’t make it any easier. The sheeps are gone! The neighbours will be moving shortly and the land will be developed into a retirement village, so that means no more sheep. I might have shed a tear … I’m really going to miss their companionable baa-ing, and watching the lambs frolic.
4 November – This is what $70 worth of meat (purchased on special) looks like!
5 November – It was Mr 28’s “bucks do” … so the husbear joined them for some go kart racing followed by dinner. Meanwhile, I went through the applications for the SEO professional role I’m currently recruiting for.
6 November – We helped Mr 28 shift some of his furniture to his fiance’s, they will be living in her apartment (close to the city) once they are married.
7 November – Did I mention that I recently joined BNI (Business Network International)? Today I went to a new members’ lunch at the Paddington Tavern; came across this cute li’l street library. After work we did a grocery shop.
8 November – Had a work meeting at a local cafe.
9 November – Every Wednesday morning I head out bright and early to my BNI breakfast meeting. When I signed up, I thought the husbear and I could travel into the city together – WRONG! No sooner had I joined than he was told he could work from home an extra day per week – and you guessed it – they chose Wednesday! So here’s a selfie of us working from home (though I look a bit demented LOL).
10 November – Every second Thursday I attend a mastermind group run by my business coach, with half a dozen other female business owners. It’s amazing the breakthroughs we have and how we support each other!
11 November – Another selfie, this time at my desk with my headset on, ready for another Zoom meeting. (Miss Almost 26 and I have got into a bit of a habit of sending each other a selfie a day, makes good fodder for my Sentence A Day posts too!).
12 November – Stayed overnight at our holiday house on Coochiemudlo Island. Went for a sunset walk and yummy pizza for dinner. Oh, and we even put up the Christmas tree (LOL it’s about 15cm high)!
13 November – Got the last bits and pieces for my mother of the groom outfit today – a bra and sparkly necklace and earrings. Here’s a pic of the jewellery, but I’m going to leave the lingerie to your imagination LOL.
14 November – Went out for dinner with my mastermind group. We are constantly needing to be pulled back on track at our fortnightly sessions because we all talk so much … so this was a good opportunity to catch up!
15 November – A trip to the hairdresser for a cut and to have my foils refreshed, the wedding is now only two weeks’ away …
16 November – Bright and early start for BNI, which always fills me with motivation and enthusiasm for the day ahead. I was fired by a client!!!! It’s not as bad as it sounds, I had been expecting (and even hoping) for it 😉 .
17 November – And today I signed up a new client, one that is likely to be half the effort but paying twice as much 🙂 .
18 November – This evening we had dinner with Miss Almost 26 and her hubby; we don’t get to see them so much now they live nearly an hour’s drive away … and it’s her birthday on Sunday!
19 November – Saturday sleep in, before changing over my books at the library and visiting the op shop, where I found a great pair of shoes (look like they’ve never been worn) for $2!
20 November – It was our daughter’s 26th birthday, although we didn’t see her as we visited on Friday night. Still, in honour of the occasion I made her favourite dinner – tomato flavoured chicken legs! It’s really easy so here’s the recipe – mix up 1 can of tomato soup with 1 can of water, then stir in a packet of french onion soup mix, and pour into a casserole dish. Add half a dozen chicken legs and make sure they are well coated in the sauce. Cook in a moderate oven for about 45 minutes (turn chicken once during cooking); serve with potato (mashed is great with it) and other vegies.
21 November – Monday and I must admit I’m feeling quite rundown and weary, and it was quite hot today (35 degrees C). Hanging out for our summer holidays after Christmas!
22 November – Had lunch with my dear friend Jean, and our new picture for the family room arrived – it’s a sunset shot of Brisbane River and the city.
23 November – Wednesday and you know what that means! The husbear had to go into work so here’s a selfie from our morning commute.
24 November – Super busy with work and really tired this week. I actually skipped my business mastermind group, that’s only about the 2nd one I’ve missed in nearly three years!
25 November – Bit of boxing in this morning’s PT session – then knocked off work early for the BNI Christmas party!
26 November – Went shopping with M’Bear – we got his suit for the wedding (only a week to go!!!), and I bought some gold hoop earrings. These were a reward for completing one of my business goals this quarter 🙂 (implementing Asana project manager for myself and the team, in case you’re interested!)
27 November – ????
28 November – Although we typically get a lot of afternoon thunderstorms at this time of year, lately they all seem to be going around us – and today’s was no different. Such a shame, I love a good lightning show!
29 November – Went to a business and social enterprise forum and caught up with a couple of local business owners I hadn’t chatted to in ages, which was lovely.
30 November – Here’s today’s selfie, I took it outside the Story Bridge Hotel where we have our BNI meetings, to show you the Christmas decorations.
DECEMBER
1 December – After work, I joined the female side of the bridal party and the bride’s mum to get my nails done!
<
2 December – We experimented with moving our dining table into a different place, but didn’t like it, so moved it back, LOL.
3 December – Our very own Big Fat Greek Wedding, as our son married his lady love!
4 December – Feeling very worn out after a HUGE day – but what a wonderful wedding it was. And … my throat is feeling quite sore.
5 December – Guess who tested positive for Covid 19?! Really worried that I might have infected the newlyweds (what a way to ruin their honeymoon!), and some of the older relatives at the wedding … coz I felt really sick.
6 December – Really sick. My throat felt like it had razor blades stuck in it, couldn’t eat or drink (except to take painkillers) and slept a lot. Oh, and the husbear has now tested positive as well.
7 December – Ditto, but in the afternoon I forced myself to start drinking more as I knew I would likely end up in hospital if I didn’t start getting better. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that I did indeed start feeling a bit better once I was more hydrated.
8 December – Although the husbear also has Covid, he has a completely different illness to me. It’s not as severe, and is mostly headache and fluey aches and pains. He even went out to get a few supplies and brought home some flowers for me!
9 December –
10 December – Snapped this pic of Fleur helping the husbear pull out some weeds in the backyard.
11 December – Happy 35th anniversary of our first date, not that we did anything to celebrate as we were both feeling poorly, LOL. Although we did get this pic from our son and his bride, enjoying their honeymoon in Victoria …
12 December – Fretting because I still feel unwell and exhausted. Meanwhile, work is piling up …
13 December – I felt like I was getting worse, not better, and my ear is blocked so I went to the doctor. Sure enough, I now have a middle ear infection! On antibiotics and under doctor’s orders to take the rest of the week off. Easier said than done …
14 December –
15 December – Felt a little better in the afternoon so did a little bit of work. Oh, and I took this picture of our side yard – we finally got turf laid and now have to water it lots!
16 December – Must have overdone it, exhausted again.
17 December – Street party for Christmas over on Coochiemudlo … it was the first time I’d been out for 2 weeks!
18 December – We enjoy being serenaded by lots of birds, whenever we stay at Coochie.
19 December – Back at my desk and racing against the clock to get everything done before Christmas holidays!
20 December –
21 December – Obligatory pic with the Christmas tree!
22 December – Went to the movies after work and saw Avatar: The Way of Water with the kids.
23 December – Last workday before Christmas … might have worked late 😉 .
24 December – Cleaned up the house and did some cooking ready for Christmas – made some mini caramel tarts, a brown rice salad, and the glaze for our ham.
25 December – Happy Christmas! My Dad and stepmum joined us for lunch. No kids this year as they were all spending Christmas with their outlaws, but Fleur and Seth kept us entertained. They got presents, but as you can see, were more interested in the wrapping paper 😉 .
26 December – Started – and finished! – the jigsaw the husbear gave me for Christmas. Well, it was only 500 pieces!!!
27 December – Let the holiday begin! We’re staying at our Coochie cottage for nearly two weeks of R & R – just what the doctor ordered! I think I had about 3 nanna naps today, just so worn out.
28 December – We came back from our island holiday to celebrate Christmas with all the kidults, at Miss 26 and her husband’s home. Very excited to meet our new grandpup, Rufus, for the first time! He’s an Australian shepherd.
29 December –
30 December – Bit of excitement when a chopper landed in the recreation reserve behind our house, they had to medivac somebody off the island.
31 December – Spent heaps of time on the beach but it wore us out … we were tucked up in our beds and asleep by 9pm, so much for seeing in the New Year!
What was the highlight of your November/December? And have you had Covid yet?!!
