Greetings dear reader, and how are things in your world?
For my northern hemisphere friends, you will be enjoying the first days of summer; Down Under, we have just had the first burst of cold weather – well, it is winter after all! I pulled our jumpers and blankets out of storage on Friday and am already putting them to good use.
So let’s have a look at how May unfolded …
May – A quiet Sunday at home; Mr Almost 28 came over, and I started a new puzzle.
May – While we work hard, Fleur snoozes hard LOL. I had a really bad dizzy spell in the evening. Not sure what that’s about, but it lasted at least half an hour before I gave up and went to bed. If it’s still a problem in the morning, it’s off to the doctor for me.
May – No dizziness, that’s a relief!
May – Had a team meeting over Zoom this afternoon and found out both of my assistants have Covid in their household – should we go ahead with our branding photo shoot tomorrow? Ordinarily it wouldn’t bother me – we’re all bound to get it sooner or later – but it’s hubby’s turn to look after his mum this weekend, and we don’t want to risk her getting sick when she’s undergoing chemotherapy. So I had to make the tough call to postpone the shoot for now.
May – We went all out for our 32nd wedding anniversary! Went to the shops after work and had dinner in the food court LOL. We also went looking at rings. Funny how your tastes change over the years, plus, my original wedding set has been resized several times already, so we’re thinking about getting new ones. Didn’t see anything we were crazy about though. It’s funny, but just the fact that the husbear wants to look at new rings for me makes me feel special – no money needs to be spent!
May – Miss 25 had a little procedure yesterday, so after work we visited to see how she was getting on, and played with the grandkitties. This is the most recent addition to the family, Maisy. Isn’t she a cutie?!
May – A kookaburra came and sat on the verandah railing! In other news, I got a haul of new books from the library – just as well, I’ve been going stir crazy with no new books to read for about the past week.
May – The kids popped around for Mother’s Day bearing CHOCOLATE!!!
May – Yay! Big Brother started tonight!
May – Regular readers might remember that the husbear applied for a permanent position where he’s been contracting … he got the job!
May – Took the afternoon off work to take Miss 25 to a medical appointment on the Gold Coast. It’s been ages since we’ve hung out together just us girls and we had a fun time even if it was pouring rain and we got stuck in a traffic jam on the way home!
May – Our son turned 28! Being a work day, we won’t get a chance to see him til the weekend. Oh, and one of the gals at my business mastermind group gave me a warm fuzzy – a keyring with my name on it 🙂 .
May – Finished my latest puzzle.
May – Saturday cleaning and grocery shopping.
May – Celebrated Mr 28’s birthday by hosting a lunch for the kids and their partners. I made silverside, cheese sauce and veges, with apple crumble for afters. Mr 28’s fiance has several food allergies so it’s a bit of a challenge to find something she can eat, but this was a huge success.
May – After all the heavy rain we’ve had so far this year, we’ve developed a mould patch on the ceiling of our bathroom. I can’t tell you how livid I am about it. Y’see, I knew it was a problem, so I mentioned it specifically when we got the roof restored two years ago. Despite that, the roof still obviously had a leak so I called, emailed and Facebook messaged the company to come back to fix it (as you can tell I wasn’t having much luck actually getting in touch with them).
Eventually they arranged to come out … WELL. To cut a long story short they’ve still not been back and the ceiling gets worse every time it rains. It makes me SO ANGRY. Here I am trying to be a responsible home owner and paying good money to have something fixed and yet it’s just getting worse. Now it’s not just the roof leak that needs repairing, the bathroom ceiling’s in a pretty bad way too. Not sure what to do now – maybe a home insurance claim? Wonder if they can put a rocket up the dodgy roofing company?!
May – Fleur and I chilled out after work watching Big Brother. She’s not very ladylike though is she?!
May – What! Heard on the news that Toombul Shopping Centre won’t be re-opening after being flooded earlier this year. It’s the end of an era … you can read my post of my Toombul memories here.
May – The husbear worked from home, and at lunch time we did our democratic duty and cast our votes in the federal election.
May – Another day of medical appointments – first the physio, for further treatment for my sore wrists (I have tendonitis), and then, I had my flu shot. Being Friday, my logic is that if I feel poorly afterwards I’ve got the weekend to recover, right?
May – Went for a cheeky lil browse in the op shop when I suddenly realised that I really wasn’t feeling that well. Darn flu shot! Took it easy the rest of the day – Fleur kept me company.
May – I started work on the painting kit that I received for Mother’s Day 🙂 .
May – Yay!!!!! Our hot water system has been playing up since before Christmas, and now the weather is getting cooler it’s not as easy to just make do … so we got a new one installed. And yes, I had a long hot shower to celebrate!
May – I’m having a lot of fun with this painting thing …
May – Caught up with my business mastermind group a day earlier than usual; and in the afternoon I headed into the city for a specialist appointment. Afterwards, I visited the husbear’s office for the first time and we stopped for a coffee before heading home together.
May – Thought you might like this pic of the view from my desk … this is Mr 28’s kitty, Seth, keeping me company.
May – The husbear brought me home a pressie “just because”- it’s like a 3D jigsaw puzzle!
May – Hallelujah, a sunny Saturday! In the afternoon we caught up with my Dad and stepmum.
May – Miss 25 is fully recovered from her procedure, and dropped in with my belated Mother’s Day gift. It’s not just a dressing gown – it’s a hoodie!
May – Fleur wanted to help me make the bed, but let’s be honest, she’s more of a hindrance than a help 😉
May – Oh dear … a friend dropped something off yesterday and I gave her a hug. Today she came up positive for Covid on a RAT test … now I’m wondering if I’ll get Covid too!
Well dear reader, as I write this nearly 5 days later, so far so good on the Covid front 🙂 .
