Well – what a busy month March proved to be!
The year is well and truly underway now after a bit of a slow start (on the work front anyway). My business has picked up some new clients, and in our personal life – we had lots of visitors and other happenings.
The month ended however on a more relaxed note, as we spent the Easter long weekend at our island getaway. Such a great way to rest and replenish body, mind and soul.
March – Visited another BNI Chapter today at the Paddo (Paddington Tavern). Good meeting, always interesting to see how other groups do things, just one problem – the venue missed my breakfast order and by the time I realised, the meeting was pretty much over so not much point complaining. Unfortunately I still got charged for it! Needless to say I’m not keen to visit again.
March – Cute Saturday brekky date with the husbear (it’s amazing what’s possible now I’ve kicked the cereal habit!) followed by some shopping together.
March – With Miss 27 now in her new apartment, it’s time to move my office into one of the bedrooms. Spent the day moving files, stationery, etc ready for work tomorrow!
March – First day working in my new office, great to have a door I can close and I no longer have to share an office with the husbear. While I love him dearly, it’s nice to have a bit of separation between work and home life 🙂 .
March – It was a special anniversary for the husbear so we took the afternoon off and visited some of his old stomping grounds in the city.
March – Our son visited my BNI chapter … he might even be joining! Another afternoon off work, time for a hair refresh – trim and foils, you can see the before and after pics below.
March – Busy day with back to back meetings. I try to have most of my meetings on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, leaving Mondays and Fridays free to actually get sh!t done!
March – This morning (International Women’s Day) I was guest presenter at the Australian Local Business Network in Logan. Love sharing my knowledge of all things Google!
March – Saturday errand day, which included a trip to the library and accompanying the husbear on a dump run. Would you believe our local tip has amazing views of Brisbane city?!
March – Catching up on some housework and cleaning.
March – I attend a business planning workshop in the morning; Lawrence’s aunt has come down from Rockhampton to stay with us for a week, she will be surprising her little sister with a visit for her 80th birthday! In the evening our daughter and her new partner came to visit.
March – We took Auntie to the Lighthouse Cafe for breakfast.
March – Attended an evening networking event and met some business owners in very different fields, including a florist, a framer, an accountant, and an electrician! It was a long day though given I was up at 5am to attend my BNI meeting – though it was lovely to have my son join us again 🙂 .
March – Today I got my business insurance sorted with the help of a broker. Given my current insurance couldn’t find the right category for my business – listing it as being in the management consulting space – I had zero confidence in the cover they offered. Sure enough, my hunch was right. All I’ve had for the last 5 years was public liability insurance! Thankfully I now have professional indemnity and cyber insurance, much better cover for the potential risks to my business.
March – We took Auntie out for breakfast again, then the husbear took her to an exhibition at GOMA while I worked.
In the evening I got dressed up for the BNI One Brisbane Awards – great to have another opportunity to wear my Mother of the Groom dress! And – I picked up not one, but TWO gongs!!!! Most Valuable Player (as voted by my fellow members) AND Member of the Year (based on stats) in my chapter. Great night grooving on the dance floor even if I did get a sore hip out of it …
March – We took Auntie to visit our other home on Coochiemudlo Island, then came home and had our son and his wife over for dinner.
March – I forgot it was St Patrick’s Day or I would have worn a green dress! We had several of the husbear’s relatives over for a morning tea so Auntie could catch up with everyone. I had to leave early though as I’d previously arranged to take my Dad out for lunch, as my stepmum is away for a few days. My brother, his partner and my nephew joined us at the Brisbane Broncos Club, after watching the Broncos training and inviting my nephew to join in – much to his delight!
March – Time for Auntie to head back home. I had to work, so the husbear drove her to the train station.
March – Nothing exciting to report. Some days really are just about work and I don’t want to bore you with the details!
March – Finished my latest puzzle.
March – Presented at the Redlands’ Key Business Network breakfast meeting and actually had a decent photo taken! I don’t know about anybody else but I seem to pull all sorts of strange faces when I’m speaking 😉 .
March – Vege soup for dinner, and for the first time we made keto muffins to toast and have with our soup (all part of our low carb diet). It was surprisingly easy to make them in the microwave, though I’m struggling to describe the taste. Definitely not the usual toasted muffin but not bad!
March – Another rainy weekend. We’d originally planned to go over to our island weekender but the wet weather put us off, so it was errands at home including a grocery shop at Aldi.
March – We had visitors for afternoon tea, luckily I’d done some baking earlier in the day – gluten free and supposedly low carb brownies. They were really yummy but must confess I am skeptical about the low carb claim now that I know how much maple syrup goes into the mix!
March – Fleur made herself at home on the visitor’s chair in my new office. Not sure what sort of SEO help she needs though!
March – The husbear and I had brekky on the deck, and Seth came to join us!
March – Proud mama moment – our son has officially joined my BNI chapter!
March – After work we visited our daughter, afterwards we did a quick “smash and grab” at her local supermarket which was thankfully open til 10pm as we needed some supplies for the Easter weekend.
March – Good Friday –Â we caught the ferry over to our holiday house on Coochiemudlo Island. The weather’s not meant to be great but we’re just looking forward to a break!
March – Some friends came over for the day so we went to the cafe for lunch, checked out the Coochiemudlo Artisan Collective’s art exhibition, and went for a beach walk.
March – Whaddaya know, the Easter Bunny found us even on the island! I spent the morning getting my craft on – Miss 27 gave me a polymer clay jewellery kit for my birthday, and I finally got to start playing with it …
The weather was better than expected, so the husbear took his remote controlled catamaran out for a sail. My Dad made it years ago, and I took some video footage to share with him.
I’m afraid however I’m just going to have to leave you hanging though as to what we got up to on the last day of our break – Easter Monday – as that was the 1st of April. You’ll just have to wait til next month to find out what we did!
Which was your favourite activity or pic from this month’s “Sentence A Day” post here at Janetti Spaghetti?!
